I have a Lycos mail account--www.mail.lycos.com, and I have not been able to login for some months. I can login from other computers-- the library, etc., but not mine. It is something in my computer which screws up the login URL, and I'm not sure how to correct. Lycos help, is of no help. Can anyone help me?

Hi, I don't know if you've tried this, but it couldn't hurt. Try deleting your Cookies and Temporary Internet Files, and see what happens. In IE6: Tools>Internet Options, and click "Delete Cookies" and "Delete Files" (don't forget to check the box for deleting Offline content), and OK your way out . Like I said, I don't know if it will work, but it couldn't hurt. Post back and let us know what happens. Curt

Well, another long-shot. I heard of a similar problem in another forum, and wonder if this may apply to you. Go to Windows Update, and make sure you are current with all your patches, especially Q831167. support.microsoft.com/?kbid=831167The referenced KB article is way over my head, but might make sense to you. Please keep us posted. Curt

XE306 You appear to have a setting that blocks Lycos; the question is where do you find it ? Obvious locations would be: Hosts file Spybot Search & Destroy (if Immunize is activated) Zone Alarm (or other firewall) AdAware (not sure if this is proactive or reactive).
You may also want to check with your ISP to ensure that they haven't blocked it on purpose.

The only 'hosts' file I can find is in SpyBot S&D, and I checked that, with no luck. I checked ZoneAlarm, and so far as I can see there is no reference to this, and I don't know just what to check in AdAware. Still no luck.

The Lycos problem solved itself, by itself- this after about six months. Beats me!
