Read views with interest as I had tried to find out why my wonderful GEODisk2 was now working. All I got was fatal exception 0167 - BFF9DFFF. I also thought it was after I downloaded KB891711 and after reading all the comments I uninstalled it and Bingo it is working again. Hope this helps someone else!!!!!

Thankyou for the feedback on that Merc. It appears KB891711 is hitting the 98 systems pretty hard. AFAIK MS is aware of the issue, has been able to reproduce it and is looking into a resolution. With hopes this can be resolved in the near future, who knows though, we're talking 98 here! Brian A. Sesko <>MS MVP<>Shell/User<> Conflicts start where information lacks. www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm

Hey Merc, Same fix for the same problem I had with GEODisk. I am so glad I was recommended GEODisk . Seems like the KB891711 issue is the problem with most 98 & 98SE systems. Before GEODisk I would defrag w/o scandisk and it would take hours to finish. Sometimes would hang at 50% complete. Other times would go on for more than 12 hours. I can't justify defragging in the safe mode when I have a defrag program that should be able to handle it. I thought it was the old defrag program that came with my 98 system. I found GEODisk and the 1st time it ran defrag ....45 mins. @ 100% complete. Thanks to the developers for this program... A million Kudos to these guys....
